00:02:18Unfortunately, it's too early to tell who's in control, but we don't want to take any chances.
00:02:25We need to remind the Tzenkethi that the Federation is committed to protecting our colonies near their border.

00:02:36The Defiant will leave in two days on a week-long patrol.
00:02:40I'll be coming along as an observer.

00:17:49That won't be necessary.

00:21:06It's unlikely, but... with Dominion technology

00:21:18He won't leave until he's completed his mission.

00:21:22It looks like the Dominion is hoping to start a war between the Federation and the Tzenkethi.
00:21:28KIRA: Well, if you ask me, the Tzenkethi are doing a pretty good job of that all by themselves.
00:21:32SISKO: Not necessarily.
00:21:33The transmission we received from Barisa Prime could have been faked using that device we found implanted in the communications relay.
00:21:41In fact, our entire mission could have been engineered by the Dominion.
00:21:48Think about it.
00:21:49We've been all over this ship and we have not seen a trace of the real Ambassador Krajensky, nor his remains.
00:21:57Which means, he was probably replaced before we left the station.
00:22:00Maybe the real Ambassador never came to Deep Space 9 at all.
00:22:04So everything Ambassador Krajensky told us could have been a lie-- the Tzenkethi coup d'état, increased tension along the border, the threat of an attack.
00:22:12And now, here we are, cloaked, armed for battle and heading into Tzenkethi space.
00:22:18If we can't stop this ship before we cross the border, we may wind up causing a war rather than preventing one.
00:22:25Which is, no doubt what my people are hoping for.

00:25:57Is there any way to speed up the process?
00:25:59I could use a neural stimulator, but that might cause irreversible brain damage.
00:26:03I don't recommend it.
00:26:04Then Chief O'Brien is going to have to regain control of the ship without her.
00:26:12I'm afraid so.
00:26:14I should get back to my patient.
00:26:21The changeling's very clever.
00:26:22Taking Dax out makes O'Brien's job a lot harder.
00:26:27One thing's for sure.
00:26:29We're not going to start a war with the Tzenkethi.
00:26:32If O'Brien can't regain control before we cross the border,
00:26:37I'll have no choice but to destroy the Defiant.
00:26:51Our objective is simple.
00:26:52Find the changeling and stop him before he can do any more damage.
00:26:56We'll break into two-person teams.
00:26:59Each team will be armed with phaser rifles.
00:27:02EDDINGTON: Now, we've reconfigured the rifles to fire an expanding energy pulse.
00:27:06ODO: Phasers have been set low enough to prevent damaging equipment, but high enough to affect the changeling.
00:27:13SISKO: The changeling could be hiding anywhere.
00:27:16He could look like anything.
00:27:18So we're going to have to systematically sweep the ship with phaser fire.
00:27:23Every conduit, every corridor.
00:27:26If he's out there, we'll find him.
00:27:29Any questions?
00:27:32What if the changeling's not out there?
00:27:34What if he's one of us?
00:27:36SISKO: That's why everyone will be in teams.
00:27:39Keep your partner in sight at all times.
00:27:42And if we see anyone without a partner?
00:27:43Escort them to the brig.
00:27:44We don't want to take any chances.
00:27:48Let's go.
00:28:08All right, let's go.
00:28:12After you.
00:28:13Don't you trust me?
00:28:14No, I don't.
00:28:18I know exactly how you feel.
00:28:23Follow me.
00:28:42( sighs )
00:28:48Don't you ever sweat?
00:28:50No, I don't.
00:28:54It's the modified phaser beam.
00:28:56It's heating up the air.
00:28:58Hmm.
00:29:00You know, this would be a lot easier if we knew where he was hiding.
00:29:05Where would you be if you were him?
00:29:08I wouldn't know.
00:29:09I'm not him.
00:29:13He is one of your people.
00:29:15Now, can't you put yourself in his position?
00:29:18Try to anticipate his next move?
00:29:20I've thought about it, but the truth is
00:29:24I don't understand my people all that well.
00:29:30That's too bad.
00:29:32Yes, it is.
00:29:35For all of us.
00:30:00( whispering ): Watch my back.
00:30:22Over here.
00:30:25On three.
00:30:26One... two...
00:30:29( groans )
00:30:39This is Sisko.
00:30:40The changeling is in Jefferies tube 7-A heading to the lower deck.
00:30:44I'm in pursuit!
00:31:12The changeling... he's right over there.
00:31:18Put your phaser down.
00:31:19It's me, Kira.
00:31:20We were on our way to meet you and we got separated for a second.
00:31:23The next thing I know, he opens fire.
00:31:25BOLIAN: You can't fool me.
00:31:26You're the changeling!
00:31:28I saw you come out of that hatch and go around the corner!
00:31:31I didn't see anyone!
00:31:32What...
00:31:34Maybe he morphed into the ventilation system... or maybe he didn't.
00:31:40For all we know, you may be the changeling.
00:31:42Keep back!
00:31:44Both of you, put your weapons down now!
00:31:49I can't do that, Captain.
00:31:52You heard him!
00:32:01What happened?
00:32:03How long have the two of you been apart?
00:32:07At least a minute.
00:32:08Then we've got a problem.
00:32:10Any one of us could be the changeling.
00:32:13You, Kira, Eddington, even me.
00:32:16Not you.
00:32:18What do you mean?
00:32:19You're bleeding.
00:32:24I cut my hand when the changeling attacked me.
00:32:27What are you getting at?
00:32:29When blood leaves a humanoid body, it's still blood.
00:32:32But when any part of me separates from my body...
00:32:36It reverts back to a gelatinous state.
00:32:43Sisko to Bashir.
00:32:44This is Bashir.
00:32:46Doctor, meet us in the Mess Hall immediately.
00:32:58This shouldn't take long.
00:33:20Satisfied?
00:33:22So far.
00:33:24Who's next?
00:33:26I'll go.
00:33:50I'd say the Major is exactly who she appears to be.
00:33:55Try not to look so surprised.
00:34:02There doesn't seem to be any point in obtaining a sample from the Constable.
00:34:07I guess that just leaves the three of us.
00:34:11Let's get this over with.
00:34:42You better come with us.
00:34:52This is ridiculous.
00:34:55I'm not the changeling.
00:34:56If I were, don't you think
00:34:58I'd put up a little more of a fight?
00:35:02Inside.
00:35:04You're making a mistake.
00:35:06Do as he says!
00:35:10BASHIR: Will someone please get me out of here!
00:35:28Bridge to Captain Sisko.
00:35:30Sisko here.
00:35:31Sir, we're entering Tzenkethi space.
00:35:50Any sign of Tzenkethi ships?
00:35:52Sensors aren't picking up any warp signatures.
00:35:54We've altered course.
00:35:55Our new heading is 015 mark 47.
00:36:01We're headed directly for the Tzenkethi settlement on M'kemas III.
00:36:05How long before we're in weapons range of the settlement?
00:36:1012 minutes.
00:36:18Computer.
00:36:19This is Captain Benjamin Sisko.
00:36:21Initiate autodestruct sequence.
00:36:24Authorization: Sisko-alpha-one-alpha.
00:36:28COMPUTER: Identity confirmed.
00:36:31Additional authorization required.
00:36:45This is First Officer Kira Nerys.
00:36:48Autodestruct authorization: Kira-beta-two-beta.
00:36:53COMPUTER: Identity confirmed.
00:36:54Autodestruct sequence armed.
00:37:00Set the countdown for ten minutes from my mark.
00:37:04Authorization: Sisko-one-five destruct.
00:37:14Mark.
00:37:16COMPUTER: Sequence initiated.
00:37:18Autodestruct in nine minutes, 55 seconds.
00:37:32Sisko to O'Brien.
00:37:34O'Brien here.
00:37:35I could use some good news right now, Chief.
00:37:39How about this?
00:37:40I think I may be able to shut down the changeling's force fields and gain access to the sabotaged systems.
00:37:46The only problem is we may lose our force fields, too.
00:37:50COMPUTER: Autodestruct in seven minutes.
00:37:53Just tell me how long it will take.
00:37:55Well, I guess it'll have to be less than seven minutes, won't it?
00:37:59That'd be my suggestion.
00:38:00Sisko out.
00:38:02EDDINGTON: Doctor, how's Lieutenant Dax?
00:38:03Still unconscious.
00:38:05The changeling gave her enough sedative to keep her under for days.
00:38:08I've managed to filter most of it out of her system, but she'll be out for another few hours.
00:38:12I wish I could do more.
00:38:13SISKO: You've done all you can,
00:38:14Doctor.
00:38:15Now it's up to Chief O'Brien.
00:38:18( sighs )
00:38:24COMPUTER: Autodestruct in six minutes.
00:38:27All right, we're almost there.
00:38:30Now, look, when we set this device off, there's a possibility we may lose the protective field around the warp core.
00:38:38If that happens, this room's going to heat up real fast.
00:38:41So give the warp core a wide berth or you'll get a dose of radiation poisoning even Bashir can't cure.
00:38:52Where's the changeling?
00:38:53I lost him in the conduits.
00:38:54We haven't seen him.
00:38:59Wait!
00:39:00It's me, Odo.
00:39:03You don't say?
00:39:08Chief, remember the last time we went kayaking in the holosuite?
00:39:14You had lamb stew for lunch.
00:39:16That's right.
00:39:18But you forgot to bring a fork.
00:39:19Anyone could have gotten that information.
00:39:22COMPUTER: Autodestruct in five minutes.
00:39:24You'd better make a decision.
00:39:26We're running out of time.
00:39:29Look, I've more important things to do than play "choose the changeling."
00:39:34Keep the phaser on both of them.
00:39:45KIRA: The shuttlebay doors are sealed.
00:39:47The evacuation pods are locked down.
00:39:48We have no way out.
00:39:50Weapons are fully charged and ready to fire.
00:39:52Tactical systems are programming an attack run on the Tzenkethi settlement.
00:40:02Chief, what are you doing?
00:40:04COMPUTER: Autodestruct in four minutes.
00:40:07You'll see.
00:40:14Now!
00:40:16( alarm blaring )
00:40:17COMPUTER: Warning: Warp core field breach.
00:40:20Engine Room will be sealed in ten seconds.
00:40:22Evacuate immediately.
00:40:23Shut down the main power grid!
00:40:25( screaming )
00:40:27( grunts )
00:40:28No!
00:40:29( groans )
00:40:32COMPUTER: Engine room sealed.
00:40:35( gasps )
00:40:43Why are you protecting these solids?
00:40:45You don't belong with them.
00:40:47You belong with us.
00:40:48Autodestruct in three minutes.
00:40:51Let go.
00:40:52Don't you see? You've lost.
00:40:55It's too late for you to help them, but it's not to late to help yourself.
00:40:59Link with me, Odo.
00:41:01We can escape together.
00:41:05( laboriously ): I... don't... think... so!
00:41:21Autodestruct in two minutes.
00:41:26You've got to regain control of the ship!
00:41:34( weakly ): Odo.
00:41:42I never wanted to harm you.
00:42:14( sighs )
00:42:17O'Brien to Bridge.
00:42:18Go ahead, Chief.
00:42:19I've restored control to the helm.
00:42:21She's all yours, Captain.
00:42:23Hard aport, Major.
00:42:24Take us away from the settlement.
00:42:26Computer, end autodestruct sequence.
00:42:29Authorization: Sisko-omega-one-seven abort.
00:42:32This is Kira Nerys, First Officer. I concur.
00:42:35COMPUTER: Autodestruct sequence aborted.
00:42:38Phaser banks are powering down.
00:42:43Take us home, Major.
00:42:47Captain's Log, supplemental.
00:42:50We've returned to the station without further incident.
00:42:53However, I'm concerned about my Chief of Security,
00:42:56who hasn't said a word since we left Tzenkethi space.
00:42:59The real Ambassador Krajensky was supposed to be on his way to Risa for an extended vacation, but he never arrived.
00:43:06Starfleet Security believes he's been kidnapped or possibly killed.
00:43:11What about the coup on the Tzenkethi homeworld?
00:43:15It never happened.
00:43:17Starfleet Command wants a detailed report from each of us.
00:43:21( door opens )
00:43:24Odo, are you all right?
00:43:26I'm fine.
00:43:29I hope
00:43:30I'm not interrupting.
00:43:31Not at all.
00:43:32Have a seat.
00:43:37Captain... there's something you need to know.
00:43:44The changeling, before he... died, he whispered something to me.
00:43:51Go on.
00:43:54He said...
00:43:58"You're too late.
00:44:00We are everywhere."
