00:00:07MALE: Regeneration phase completed.
00:00:11Deactivate the genotron.
00:00:13( genotron powers down )
00:00:18Shut down the bio-matrix.
00:00:19( bio-matrix powers down )
00:00:22B'Elanna...
00:00:24B'Elanna Torres.
00:00:27Wake up.
00:00:35( theme music playing )
00:02:20CAPTAIN JANEWAY: Captain's Log, Stardate 48784.2.
00:02:23We have completed our survey of the Avery system
00:02:26and are returning to retrieve
00:02:27Lieutenants Paris, Torres and Durst.
00:02:30By now, they should have concluded their inspection
00:02:32of the magnesite formations on the third planet.
00:02:36Here we are, Mr. Tuvok.
00:02:40One bowl of authentic Vulcan plomeek soup.
00:02:44As I have told you, Mr. Neelix, this is an unnecessary indulgence.
00:02:48I am quite content to eat whatever the rest of the crew is eating.
00:02:51Nonsense!
00:02:52Everyone aboard this ship deserves a little taste of home every now and then.
00:02:57Very well, then.
00:02:59Thank you.
00:03:00Oh, don't thank me.
00:03:02I'm having a marvelous time experimenting with the native dishes of the entire crew.
00:03:06So far, I've learned to make corn salad for Mr. Chakotay and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for Mr. Paris.
00:03:13He calls it "comfort food."
00:03:16Isn't that charming?
00:03:18What are you waiting for? It's no good cold.
00:03:26Well?
00:03:28( coughs )
00:03:30It is rather... piquant.
00:03:32It is zesty, isn't it?
00:03:34I tried following the recipe in the computer's data bank, but it seemed so bland.
00:03:39So I took the liberty of spicing it up a bit.
00:03:41Call it plomeek soup à la Neelix.
00:03:45I must point out that if you take the liberty of changing a time-honored recipe, you are hardly presenting a taste of home.
00:03:52CHAKOTAY ( over P.A. ): Senior officers, please report to the Bridge.
00:03:55But your soup.
00:03:56Please... enjoy it.
00:04:11Oh!
00:04:13Ooh, there's no place like home.
00:04:15( burps )
00:04:16The away team hasn't arrived at the prearranged coordinates, Captain, and they've failed to respond to our hails.
00:04:22Have you tried locking on to their com signals?
00:04:24We scanned the entire surface. No sign of them.
00:04:26They must still be underground.
00:04:27But I can't locate them there, either.
00:04:29Then, as we suspected, the dense magnesite formations in the planet's crust are blocking our sensors.
00:04:35Take a look at this.
00:04:36This is the cave system nearest the beam-in coordinates as it appeared in our initial geological scan and this is the same system now.
00:04:42This tunnel here has shifted to the west by almost 75 degrees.
00:04:46Are you saying walls of solid rock have changed shape in the two days since the away team was deployed?
00:04:51Apparently so, Captain, but our initial scans didn't indicate tectonic activity of anywhere near that magnitude.
00:04:56In any case, it's possible that Torres and the others haven't returned to the beam-out site because they were trapped by these geological shifts.
00:05:03I'd like to lead a team down to investigate, Captain.
00:05:06And what is to prevent us from losing you as well, Commander?
00:05:08KIM: Bread crumbs.
00:05:10Ensign?
00:05:11Oh, I'm sorry, Captain.
00:05:12What I mean to say is I think I can modify some subspace transponders which could be deployed along the Commander's path, kind of like...
00:05:19Bread crumbs. Got it.
00:05:21If they're placed at regular intervals,
00:05:23I believe they'll maintain a signal link with the ship and they could serve as a transporter relay in case we need to stage an emergency beam-out.
00:05:31Very well, Commander.
00:05:33Take a team with you, but I want a transporter lock on you at all times.
00:05:36Aye, Captain.
00:05:37Tuvok, Kim, you're with me.
00:05:42( gasping quietly )
00:05:50I apologize for the restraints, but your presence here is very important to us.
00:05:56Do you understand?
00:05:58Who... are... you?
00:06:02I am Sulan, Chief Surgeon of the Vidiian Sodality.
00:06:07I demand... to know... what is happening here.
00:06:23You've surgically altered my face!
00:06:27I look like a Klingon!
00:06:30I've performed no surgery, as you understand the term.
00:06:34There are several questions I need to ask you before we proceed.
00:06:39You can't possibly believe
00:06:41I'm going to cooperate with you.
00:06:44Perhaps I was in error to leave your consciousness and memory intact.
00:06:49Durst...
00:06:52Paris...
00:06:54What have you done with them?!
00:06:58What is your exact age, Klingon?
00:07:00If you want me to answer your question, you will have to answer one of mine first.
00:07:09Very well.
00:07:11What... exactly... have you done to me?
00:07:17I have reconstituted your genome.
00:07:20You are now purely Klingon.
00:07:22That's not possible!
00:07:24I assure you it is.
00:07:27I have developed a procedure to stimulate cell division.
00:07:31A kind of... enhanced mitosis.
00:07:35Your Klingon genetic material was extracted.
00:07:38It was then converted from matter to energy by our genotron.
00:07:43Finally... you were rematerialized as the purified Klingon specimen that you are now.
00:07:51Why? Why... have you done this?!
00:07:56For generations, my people have been searching the Quadrant for a species immune to our disease, in the hope that it would lead us to a cure.
00:08:05And you think Klingons are immune to this phage?
00:08:11I believe your genetic structure has phage-resistant nucleotide sequences, yes.
00:08:16But I needed a pure specimen to be certain.
00:08:21My people do not know it yet, but you are their greatest hope.
00:08:26I... will... never help you!
00:08:31You are very strong.
00:08:33I can only hope that you will be truly resistant to the phage.
00:08:38And how will you know that?
00:08:42I have infected you.
00:08:47( snarls )
00:09:15They're the ones with the guns, remember?
00:09:32We've got to find a way out of this place.
00:09:34Agreed, but I don't want to do anything until we find out what they've done with B'Elanna.
00:09:38( footsteps approaching )
00:09:43In the meantime, we have to keep track of the guards' movements-- how long are their shifts when do they eat, when do they sleep.
00:09:54There don't seem to be many of them.
00:09:57I guess they figure we're all so exhausted, we don't have any fight left.
00:10:01We'll find an opening, Pete, and when the time is right, we'll make our move.
00:10:06( laughing )
00:10:08Something funny, friend?
00:10:10You.
00:10:11Really?
00:10:12How's that?
00:10:13Nobody ever escapes from this place.
00:10:16Those Vidiian leeches can yank the beating heart out of you-- in a heartbeat.
00:10:20Heart out of you in a heartbeat.
00:10:23Now, that's funny.
00:10:24Hilarious.
00:10:26Seems like you know this place pretty well.
00:10:27I should. I've been here six years.
00:10:30Then tell me something...
00:10:33I thought those Vidiians were in the business of harvesting organs.
00:10:36How come we're all still in one piece?
00:10:38The disease makes them weak.
00:10:40They need somebody to dig their tunnels.
00:10:42That's us.
00:10:44Best way to keep alive around here is to stay strong.
00:10:48Thanks for the advice.
00:10:50But don't worry.
00:10:51They're always in need of replacement body parts.
00:10:53They'll get around to gutting you eventually.
00:10:55There were 23 of us from my ship.
00:10:59I'm the only one left.
00:11:01Listen, when they grabbed us, there was a woman with us-- B'Elanna Torres.
00:11:07Any idea what might've happened to her?
00:11:08If she's not here, she's been taken to organ processing.
00:11:37( beeping quietly )
00:11:44I've deployed the transponders, Commander.
00:11:47The relay signal is coming through clearly.
00:11:50CHAKOTAY: Good work.
00:11:58Any sign of them?
00:12:00According to my tricorder readings, they definitely came this way.
00:12:04The question is: Where did they go from here?
00:12:09( animal screeches )
00:12:12Delightful spot to get lost.
00:12:15TUVOK: Commander, Ensign, over here.
00:12:23CHAKOTAY: What is it?
00:12:25I detect traces of at least five humanoid life-forms.
00:12:27KIM: Five?
00:12:29There were only three on the away team.
00:12:31Evidently, they did not enter this cavern alone.
00:12:42( forceful, ragged breathing )
00:12:48( door opens and closes )
00:13:00Are you in pain?
00:13:04It's... nothing.
00:13:08Remarkable.
00:13:10One of the symptoms of the early stages of the phage is excruciating joint pain.
00:13:17I find it extraordinary that you can endure it.
00:13:21Some who are infected have been known to die from the agony itself.
00:13:29It's going to take more than an infection to kill me.
00:13:38It appears you are correct.
00:13:41Your body is successfully fighting off the phage.
00:13:45I am overjoyed.
00:13:47How delightful for you.
00:13:50Soon we will begin a series of procedures replicating your genetic code and attempting various methods of integrating your DNA with our own.
00:14:00In time, we'll be successful and eliminate the phage forever.
00:14:06When that time comes, you will be honored as a hero by my people.
00:14:13I know I'm the first Klingon you've ever seen, so I'll tell you that Klingons find honor as warriors on the battlefield, not as guinea pigs in a laboratory.
00:14:31Earlier, you accused me of mutilating you.
00:14:35Now you sound positively proud to be Klingon.
00:14:40You have me to thank for that, B'Elanna.
00:14:43You'll get no gratitude from me.
00:14:45Perhaps you'll feel different in time.
00:14:49But I don't blame you for your obstinance.
00:14:53I would be proud, too, with a form as handsome as yours.
00:14:57I believe Klingons are the most impressive species I have ever seen.
00:15:09( door opens )
00:15:22( groans )
00:15:36Tom...
00:15:39Tom, wake up.
00:15:40( grunts )
00:15:46B'Elanna?
00:15:48Yeah. It's me.
00:15:54B'Elanna, what have they done to you?
00:16:08I remember them grabbing us outside the caves and then I...
00:16:13I guess I just blacked out.
00:16:15Yeah. They stunned all of us.
00:16:18The next thing I knew, they were waking me up in some kind of laboratory.
00:16:24I was so groggy I couldn't see.
00:16:28I asked them what they had done to me and then one of them said that they had completely extracted my Klingon DNA.
00:16:40( sighs )
00:16:42That doesn't seem possible... but you look human.
00:16:48I feel so weak and sick to my stomach.
00:16:52Well, considering what they've done to you,
00:16:54I'm not surprised.
00:16:55( gasps )
00:16:59( panting )
00:17:02So strange.
00:17:04What?
00:17:06When I was a child,
00:17:09I did everything I could to hide my forehead-- hats, scarves-- you name it.
00:17:19When I was a kid,
00:17:20I wore a cap to cover the haircuts my father used to make me get, first day of every summer.
00:17:31I grew up in a colony on Kessik IV.
00:17:34My mother and I were the only Klingons there, and that was a time when relations between the Homeworld and the Federation weren't too cordial.
00:17:45Nobody ever said anything, but... we were different... and I didn't like that feeling.
00:17:57Then... my father left... when I was five years old.
00:18:05( clanking, indistinct voices )
00:18:08One day he was there, and the next, he wasn't.
00:18:11I cried myself to sleep every night for months... but of course, I never told anybody.
00:18:22And then I finally decided that he left because I looked like a Klingon... and so I tried to look human.
00:18:39Looks like you finally got what you wanted.
00:19:03Strange.
00:19:04What is?
00:19:05According to our last geological scan, this cave should continue straight ahead for another eight kilometers.
00:19:10This is solid granite, more than 50 meters.
00:19:12If these caves were changing configuration while we were here, we certainly would've felt it.
00:19:16True, Commander, but I do not believe there has been any tectonic activity.
00:19:20I believe this wall is merely an illusion-- a disguised force field.
00:19:26Away team to Voyager.
00:19:27JANEWAY: Go ahead, Commander.
00:19:29We've run into some type of force field, Captain.
00:19:31One minute, we were reading an empty tunnel,
00:19:33and the next, we walked right into a solid wall of rock.
00:19:36Captain, the energy configuration of the force field matrix is virtually identical to those used by the Vidiians.
00:19:43Mr. Ayala... scan for any alien vessels in the sector.
00:19:47Commander, we know from past experience that our phasers can disrupt that force field.
00:19:51I want to find out what's in there.
00:19:52Aye, Captain.
00:19:54But I don't want you taking any unnecessary risks.
00:19:56We'll be standing by to implement an emergency beam-out.
00:19:59Acknowledged.
00:20:06CHAKOTAY: It's not working, Captain.
00:20:08Try reconfiguring your phaser to match the bandwidth modulation.
00:20:11Commander!
00:20:14Three to beam up!
00:20:37B'Elanna.
00:20:44How are you feeling today?
00:20:47I feel strong.
00:20:50It's very frustrating to be restrained like this.
00:20:54I sympathize.
00:20:56I don't like being chained up like an animal.
00:21:00I'm sorry. I wish there was...
00:21:02I've been thinking about what you've said.
00:21:05It's because of you that I am Klingon.
00:21:11And I do... like... this feeling.
00:21:17In a strange way,
00:21:20I suppose...
00:21:22I am grateful.
00:21:24Did you know that Klingon females are renowned in the Alpha Quadrant not only for their physical prowess, but for their... voracious... sexual appetites as well?
00:21:42Why not let your creation out of her harness?
00:21:46Study her in action.
00:21:51( gasps quietly )
00:21:56I wish it were possible, B'Elanna... but I'm afraid I can't risk releasing you just yet.
00:22:10( quiet panting )
00:22:16Forgive me.
00:22:18For what?
00:22:19Please... don't condescend.
00:22:24I may have a grotesque appearance, but I assure you my instincts are finely honed, and I do have feelings.
00:22:40Hard as it may be for you to imagine, B'Elanna, my people were once handsome and vigorous like yours.
00:22:51And with your help, we will be again.
00:22:56Perhaps, when that time comes...
00:22:59I will not disgust you quite so much as I do now.
00:23:16They're coming to take us to the work detail.
00:23:18You can't let them see how sick you are.
00:23:19Maybe if they think I'm too weak, they'll leave me behind.
00:23:22I could try to get my hands on that console over there.
00:23:24Or maybe they'll skip the preliminaries and take you straight to organ processing.
00:23:35You.
00:23:36Come with me.
00:23:38What for?
00:23:39You asked to contact your ship.
00:23:41The Prefect wishes to discuss your request.
00:23:43I'm the senior officer here.
00:23:46If your superiors want to talk with one of us, it should be me.
00:23:50He's not going anywhere without me!
00:23:52Tom, don't.
00:23:53They'll kill you.
00:23:54Stop!
00:23:55( gasps )
00:23:56It's okay, Tom.
00:23:59They're the ones with the guns, remember?
00:24:08( door opens and closes )
00:24:10( sniffling )
00:24:16What is it?
00:24:25Now that the Vidiians know we're here, we have to be prepared for the possibility that they'll call in reinforcements.
00:24:31So far, long-range sensors haven't located any alien vessels near here.
00:24:34However, it is possible that the same technology that disguises their force fields, cloaks their ships.
00:24:39CHAKOTAY: The other thing we have to consider is that the prisoners may be at greater risk now.
00:24:44KIM: Captain, take a look at this.
00:24:46Using our tricorder data,
00:24:48I've been able to scan the entire planet for the force field signature, and it looks like the field surrounds an area more than 600 kilometers in circumference.
00:24:54Is there any way to scan inside it?
00:24:56Every reconfiguration I've tried has failed.
00:24:59If it's the same kind of force field the Vidiians used the last time we ran into them, why didn't our phasers breach it?
00:25:05Apparently, it has been adapted to repulse phaser fire.
00:25:08If the Vidiians can move in and out of there, so can we.
00:25:11Start setting up simulations.
00:25:13Find a way to get through that force field.
00:25:21SULAN: B'Elanna?
00:25:26I have something I want to show you.
00:25:37Durst...
00:25:39I thought perhaps this new face would make you more comfortable with me.
00:25:43You've killed him.
00:25:45Yes, B'Elanna, but his organs will save more than a dozen lives.
00:25:51( grunting, snarling )
00:25:58( choking )
00:26:03( door opening )
00:26:05( footsteps approaching )
00:26:13Deep-level scans have revealed a network of microfissures, minuscule openings which develop briefly each time the field matrix remodulates.
00:26:20Just how small are these microfissures?
00:26:22Less than one micron.
00:26:24And they close up within a few seconds.
00:26:26Would it be possible to use our phasers to expand one of these openings as it's forming?
00:26:31That was our first thought.
00:26:32But we realized such an attempt would have to be at close range and would carry the risk of alerting the Vidiians to our presence.
00:26:38So then it occurred to us-- if we could narrow the transporter's energy beam tightly enough, it might be possible to transport one of us through the microfissures.
00:26:47Of course, timing the transport to the precise moment of an opening would be critical.
00:26:51But if we could get someone inside, we might be able to find our people and also deactivate the force field.
00:26:57And then, presumably, we could beam everyone back to the ship.
00:27:01Precisely.
00:27:02But you should be aware that because we are incapable of scanning beyond the force field, we will have no way of communicating with whoever transports inside it, nor will we be able to verify that the transport has been successfully completed.
00:27:13Moreover, what's to prevent whoever goes in from being captured by the Vidiians?
00:27:19I have an idea about that, Captain.
00:27:23DOCTOR: Dermal stimulator, please.
00:27:29Remarkable work, Doctor.
00:27:31( scoffs )
00:27:32If you think this is remarkable, you should see me remove a bunion.
00:27:40I have done my best to replicate Vidiian attire.
00:27:43I trust it will prove sufficiently convincing.
00:27:47It's a fine piece of work, Mr. Tuvok.
00:27:50Next time I need a tailor,
00:27:51I'll know just where to look.
00:27:54GUARD: Quickly now!
00:28:00GUARD: In there!
00:28:20Here, B'Elanna.
00:28:22Sit down.
00:28:29Here. It's water.
00:28:33Thanks.
00:28:36Rest while you can.
00:28:38The guard won't be back right away.
00:28:41Keep it.
00:28:51Tom...
00:28:53I've been thinking.
00:28:57When they did this thing to me,
00:29:00I think it changed more than just the way I look.
00:29:03What do you mean?
00:29:08Back there, when they took Durst away...
00:29:12I was... terrified.
00:29:16No one could blame you for that.
00:29:19You don't understand.
00:29:21I've been in worse situations, but I've never felt like that before.
00:29:26Never.
00:29:28I mean... my heart was pounding and my hands were shaking.
00:29:34I didn't even try to help you.
00:29:36B'Elanna, I'm no doctor, but I have to believe that whatever they did to you has seriously depleted your strength.
00:29:42There's nothing you could've done.
00:29:44No, that's not it.
00:29:47I think that... when they extracted my Klingon DNA... they turned me into some kind of...
00:29:57...a coward.
00:29:59Sometimes fear can be a good thing.
00:30:03It keeps you from taking unnecessary chances.
00:30:07Courage doesn't mean that you don't have fear.
00:30:10It means that you've learned to overcome it.
00:30:13And I know you can find the courage to hold on until we can find a way out of this place.
00:30:19GUARD: What's going on here?
00:30:21She's ill. She needed a rest.
00:30:23If she's too weak, I'll take her back to the barracks.
00:30:25TORRES: That's okay, Tom.
00:30:26Maybe from there,
00:30:27I can try to make contact with the ship.
00:30:37KIM: The emitter array has been initialized, Captain.
00:30:40Good.
00:30:41Are you ready, Mr. Chakotay?
00:30:44( console beeping )
00:30:45TUVOK: Captain, there's an opening forming in the force field.
00:30:48Initiating auto sequence.
00:30:49Targeting scanners to match coordinates.
00:30:51Scanners locked.
00:30:52On my mark, Mr. Kim.
00:30:56Energize.
00:31:03Well... now we wait.
00:31:10( panting )
00:31:17Make a sound and I'll break your neck.
00:31:20Understand?
00:31:22I'm looking for my friend, Tom Paris-- a human male.
00:31:25Have you seen him?
00:31:26He was here, but they sent him to another tunnel.
00:31:29Which one?
00:31:30Back that way.
00:31:32There was another human with him, but they took her back to the barracks.
00:31:36A human female?
00:31:38Yeah...
00:31:47( door opening )
00:31:51VIDIIAN: I need your help here.
00:32:01( door closes )
00:32:21( console beeps and whirs )
00:32:40GUARD: What are you doing?!
00:32:41Come with us.
00:32:44Where are you taking me?
00:32:45For a shower and a hot meal.
00:32:46No, please!
00:33:34( remote beeps )
00:34:08Wake up, pahtk!
00:34:10Eat!
00:34:11What... What is it?
00:34:15Some rodent I killed.
00:34:19No. Thanks.
00:34:21I'm sorry I can't replicate you a soufflé, but you need nourishment.
00:34:26I can't carry you all the way out of here.
00:34:39How are we supposed to escape this place?
00:34:42There are guards everywhere.
00:34:44We fight our way out.
00:34:46Maybe you haven't noticed, but I'm not exactly in fighting form.
00:34:50That's why you need food. Eat!
00:34:59So... you're what's left over when all the Klingon DNA is taken out.
00:35:09Apparently.
00:35:10If I hadn't come along, were you just going to waste away in that prison camp until they killed you for your body parts?
00:35:18Were you too frightened to act?
00:35:21I was looking for a way to escape.
00:35:24Looking!
00:35:25I'll show you the way to escape.
00:35:27This and this.
00:35:29That's the way you respond to every situation, isn't it?
00:35:32If it doesn't work, hit it.
00:35:34If it's in your way, knock it down.
00:35:36( huffs )
00:35:37No wonder I got kicked out of the Academy.
00:35:40For which you should be eternally grateful.
00:35:43Well, I'm not.
00:35:45Your temper has gotten me into trouble more times than I can...
00:35:49( sighs )
00:35:50Listen to me.
00:35:57Listen to us.
00:36:00This is ridiculous.
00:36:02Do you realize that we're each fighting with our self?
00:36:05I'm not the one who's fighting, pahtk.
00:36:08If I remember correctly,
00:36:10I'm the one who rescued you from that prison and carried you here.
00:36:15Don't you think you could at least acknowledge that?
00:36:21Can't you even admit that you won't be able to get out of here without me?
00:36:27I don't know that I can get out of here with you.
00:36:30Brute force isn't going to do it.
00:36:31Maybe not! Maybe we'll die in the attempt, but that's better than sitting here like frightened Tikacats doing nothing!
00:36:39There you go again-- out of control.
00:36:42Just leaping into action before you think things through.
00:36:46Fine! You stay here. I'm getting out.
00:36:48No, wait a minute.
00:36:49That's not what I meant.
00:36:50I'm sorry.
00:36:52Please...
00:36:58Just before... you rescued me...
00:37:04I logged onto the Vidiians' computer system.
00:37:07I only had a few seconds, but I think I found a way to access the force field that's cloaking this place.
00:37:15With a few minutes more, I could've deactivated it.
00:37:18Then Voyager could get a lock on us.
00:37:20Beam us back.
00:37:22Paris, too.
00:37:23It may not be as exciting as fighting our way out, but it stands a much better chance of working if... I have your help.
00:37:38So... you need me.
00:37:44I can't get back to that computer without you and you'll have to cover for me while I work.
00:37:53We can't go to the prison barracks.
00:37:55There are too many guards there.
00:37:57In the lab, where they were holding me, there was a security console.
00:38:02That's the last place they would expect us to be.
00:38:20They must have taken her to organ processing.
00:38:23Tell me how to get there.
00:38:27Keep your hands off me!
00:38:28Whatever you say, Paris, but I thought you might like to get out of this place.
00:38:35Chakotay?
00:38:36Where are Torres and Durst?
00:38:41I think they've been taken to what the Vidiians call "organ processing."
00:38:44GUARD: You!
00:38:46Why are you talking to that prisoner?
00:38:47I was ordered to take him to organ processing.
00:38:49Why wasn't I notified?
00:38:51I was told you had been.
00:38:54I've never seen you before.
00:38:56My face was just grafted.
00:39:03Very well.
00:39:04Take him, but from now on,
00:39:07I expect to be notified in advance of all transfers.
00:39:10Yes, sir.
00:39:20There.
00:39:23I have to bypass the security code, so I can access the force field grid.
00:39:28Then I'll have a better idea of what we're dealing with.
00:39:34That should do it.
00:39:36( console beeping )
00:39:38There.
00:39:39That's what we're up against, and I think we're... here.
00:39:43Can you shut it down?
00:39:44I'm working on it.
00:39:46( alarm blaring )
00:39:47What now?
00:39:49If they didn't know we were here before, they do now.
00:39:55Take it easy.
00:39:57I'll be done in a minute.
00:40:01You're not frightened anymore, are you?
00:40:04Maybe I just don't have time to think about it.
00:40:09( grunting )
00:40:11Are you hurt?
00:40:12Keep working!
00:40:14B'Elanna!
00:40:15Stop.
00:40:16You're not going to hurt me.
00:40:19You need me.
00:40:20You're right, but if you do not surrender,
00:40:25I will kill her.
00:40:27Drop it!
00:40:34Who are you?
00:40:36That's what I want to know!
00:40:37It's Chakotay.
00:40:42I think I've just about accessed the force field.
00:40:45Hurry!
00:40:49Got it!
00:40:50There.
00:40:54Captain, the force field has been disrupted.
00:40:57Mr. Kim, can you get a lock on Commander Chakotay?
00:40:59Chakotay to Voyager. Do you read?
00:41:01Loud and clear, Commander.
00:41:03I found them, Captain.
00:41:05No!
00:41:09No!
00:41:10Three humans and one Klingon to beam up.
00:41:24PARIS: She's badly wounded, Captain.
00:41:27Beam her to Sick Bay!
00:41:28Don't. No time.
00:41:36You showed true courage.
00:41:39It makes my death... an honorable one.
00:42:06Using tissue from your counterpart,
00:42:08I can replicate the Klingon DNA.
00:42:11Then, over the course of several days,
00:42:12I'll reintegrate that genetic material into your cellular structure.
00:42:16Wait a minute-- you're not saying that you're going to change me back.
00:42:19That's precisely what I'm saying.
00:42:22Your cells' ability to synthesize proteins has been severely compromised.
00:42:26You need the Klingon genes to survive.
00:42:32So, she's saving my life again.
00:42:36I'll get started on the DNA.
00:42:45How are you doing?
00:42:48( sighs ): I'm not sure.
00:42:51It's been a pretty strange experience.
00:42:53I do know that right now... the way I am...
00:43:02I'm more at peace with myself than I've ever been before...
00:43:08...and that's a good feeling.
00:43:11But...?
00:43:14I'm incomplete.
00:43:19It doesn't feel like me.
00:43:27I guess I've had someone else living inside of me for too long to feel right without her.
00:43:32I'd have to say that you two made quite a team down there.
00:43:37I know.
00:43:41I came to admire a lot of things about her-- her strength, her bravery...
00:43:58I guess... I just have to accept the fact that I'll spend the rest of my life fighting with her.
00:44:09( gentle theme playing )
00:44:59( dramatic theme playing )
